Place of Birth: El Paso, Texas

History: Artist Ray Lopez-Aleman was born December 12, 1920. He moved to El Paso in the early 1960s, and was represented by the Greenfield Gallery. In 1967, owner, Albert Greenfield passed away, and Lopez-Aleman purchased the gallery from the estate. He continued the daily operations of the gallery while living, painting and teaching there through 1971. Ray withdrew in his later years devastated by the effects of Parkinson’s disease. He left El Paso to be with his sister and nephews preceding his death in February of 1998.
