History: Fredrick Carter grew up among the historic homes of Galveston Island which kindled his interest in period architecture. This continued with his move to El Paso and the Mexican border. He is inspired by the light and color of the Southwest. He has said, “Color is action, color is sheer excitement, and happiness is sunshine and color.” His versatility attracts him to a wide range of subjects in many different locations. The bright colors and flattened perspective in his paintings create a distinctive style easily recognizable when he paints the historic buildings of El Paso and Juarez.
His paintings have been exhibited at many museums of note including the El Paso Museum of Art, Dallas Museum of Fine Arts, Houston Museum of Fine Arts, Witte Memorial Museum of San Antonio, Isaac Delgado Museum of New Orleans, National Arts Club of New York and the National Academy Galleries Of New York. He is also listed in Who’s Who in American Art.
