Across Texas (February 16 - April 11)

DALLAS --  Gallery 2 David Dike Fine Art & Estates in the design district announces an exhibition of three contemporary artists living and working in Texas;  Randy Bacon, Jon Flaming and William Young.  Exhibition dates are February 16 through March 22, 2008 at the gallery, 1229 B Slocum, Dallas, Texas 75207.  Viewers may meet the artists at the opening on February 16, 6-9 p.m.  The Artists’ Talk will be Saturday, March 8, 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. including Q&A and followed by a light lunch, also at the gallery.

In communicating a sense of place and focusing on the vastness of West Texas, Randy Bacon’s representational oil landscapes have a narrative, cinematic quality.  Jon Flaming’s paintings and sculptures subtly shift from elegant, painterly landscapes to playful, folk images.  William Young renders his imagination into surreal paintings evoking a dream-like atmosphere set in familiar landscapes.

“As different as their styles are, the work of these three artists hang remarkably well as a cohesive group,” said Russell Tether, vice president and managing partner of Gallery 2.  “What they share is a fresh approach in representing the land they are connected to in skilled and often unexpected ways. With an eye on the future, these successful artists were chosen because their work fits well with the kind of work this gallery is known for, but seen through contemporary eyes.”

David Dike Fine Art was established in 1986 with an emphasis on the Texas Regionalists and Texas landscape painters of the 19th and early 20th century.  A member of the Dallas Art Dealers Association, David Dike has assisted in the writing of several books on Texas art and has become a leading authority on the subject.  His Annual Texas Art Auction every October has become an anticipated tradition that attracts Texas art enthusiasts from across the nation.

Gallery 2 was recently opened to meet the demand for more exhibition space in addition to the Fairmount location.  Located in the Dallas Design District, Gallery 2 David Dike Fine Art & Estates is a professional partnership providing consultation, management, and art marketing services to Early Texas and select artists, collectors and estates.

Gallery 2 hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm; or by appointment, 214.741.2789.
